Greetings Program Visitor Partners,
This is U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 39, Dania Beach.
The reason I am writing to you is to inform you that Flotilla 39 will be holding a Boating Safety Class for those interested on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 9:30am to 5:30pm (informational brochures are attached to this email). Please mark your calendars if you are interested in participating in this exciting knowledgeable class. You do not need to own a boat to attend. For those who are unfamiliar with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. A brief synopsis has been provided below for you.
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is the volunteer uniformed component of the United States Coast Guard. It is comprised of 26,000 members across the country in every state who volunteer their time to serve their community and country in various capacities such as:
- to support the operations of the United States Coast Guard.
- to promote and improve recreational boating safety through education and advocacy.
- Provide trained crews and facilities to enhance the safety and security of the waterways of the United States.
- Further the Homeland Security Mission of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Our August Boating Safety Class will be held at the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum which is located at 300 Gulf Stream Way, Dania Beach, Florida, 33040 on Saturday, August 12th, 2023 from 9:30am to 5:30pm.
The class duration is 8 hours. A Florida State Boater Identification Card and a Certificate will be provided for those who attend the one-day program. The cost of the class is $40 which covers the cost of the materials provided in the class. There will be U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Instructors from Flotilla 39 present to teach and assist class participants.

The classroom program topics covered will include:
- Safe operation of a boat.
- Navigation of the waters.
- Boating Laws.
- How to handle emergencies on a boat.
- What safety equipment should be on a boat?.
- Plus many other topics related to boating safety.
We do ask that all participants bring a boxed lunch.
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 39 holds multiple boating safety classes a year to educate the public on boating safety. In Florida, we have many open waterways that are used by thousands of people each day. The aim of these classes is to educate and save lives. We do believe education saves lives.
