Angela Outlaw-Matheny Director of Investment Staff & Diverse Manager Equity at Crewcial Partners, LLC
Angela Matheny joined Crewcial Partners in July 2016. She is an integral part of Crewcial’s research team. Angela and the firm’s CIO co-manage the investment team to ensure internal processes are efficient while overseeing the firm’s systematic process for identifying best ideas for portfolios. As a Co-Relationship Manager, she ensures client portfolios and advice reflect the firm’s best thinking and account for portfolio/client interests and issues. Valuing human capital, focusing on internal diverse talent acquisition, building a training and development program, and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion industry-wide are other areas of expertise. Angela also drives the firm’s research process to attract and source diverse asset managers while monitoring the internal protocol for vetting women and diverse asset managers; she facilitates the constant communication between Crewcial and fund managers, assisting firm efforts to build a robust pipeline of this largely under-followed segment of the asset manager community marketplace. Angela believes a combination of public, private, and philanthropic capital drives meaningful impact when coordinated towards a shared systemic goal. Prior to joining Crewcial, she spent 23 years at a financial-services law firm, 13 of which as a legal assistant in the investment management group assisting with fund document creation and Blue Sky and SEC filings; ten years were spent working with human resources in the training and development group with a special focus on diversity and inclusion. Angela received her BA in Psychology from Bernard Baruch College and a Master of Public Affairs and Administration from the Metropolitan College of New York. She also earned a certificate in Human Resources Management from Villanova University, which included studies in diversity and inclusion.
Sonya Rocvil Principal and Founder, Bedrock Real Estate Investors
Sonya Rocvil is the Principal and Founder of Bedrock Real Estate Investors, a privately-owned real estate company, specializing in the acquisitions and asset management of multifamily apartments in the United States. With over 15 years of experience within the financial services industry, she has syndicated multifamily deals totaling 374 units and valued at $18.6m. She has also been an equity partner for multifamily investments totaling 438 units and valued at $28.7m.

Sonya began her career as an auditor and later transitioned to finance at a Fortune 500 Company. Her depth of knowledge in business analytics and strategic implementations that drive growth, has made her successful in acquiring and operating multifamily properties.
Sonya is an Adjunct Instructor for the NYU School of Professional Studies and serves as Treasurer of the Council of Urban Real Estate. She is also an active member of her local merchant association. Sonya holds a Master of Business Administration from Baruch College, Zicklin School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Rutgers University. She is also a graduate of Project REAP (Real Estate Associate Program). Sonya is a Certified Public Accountant and Licensed Real Estate Agent in the State of New York.
Denisha Kuhlor Vice President, Emerging Managers Practice at Silicon Valley Bank
Denisha Kuhlor is a Vice President in the Emerging Managers Practice at Silicon Valley Bank. In this role, she works as a partner with venture capital clients across industries to support their efforts to grow their firms. Prior to joining the Emerging Managers Practice, Denisha spent two and a half years at Silicon Valley Bank, focused on accelerating the success of Early Stage Technology Companies. Before entering the banking world, she founded ‘Plucked’ a start-up that connects students with colleges based on their GPA and desired major. In addition to her work in technology and banking, Denisha is a coveted public speaker on a variety of STEM related issues including banking, diversity and inclusion, and technology. She’s the author of a widely read weekly blog on music called Stan where she explores the intersection between artists, technology, and fan relationships.
Adeola Adejobi Founder and CEO of the Avant-Garde Network
Adeola Adejobi is the Founder and CEO of the Avant-Garde Network (AGN), her firm is a leading social impact company which creates social and economic impact through a collaborative ecosystem of industry professionals, business leaders and entrepreneurs. Through AGN she created, the Women of Color and Capital Conference, the only conference of its kind where diverse women entrepreneurs & professionals come together to learn about money, finance, capital and investing from a 360 degree lens and the Diversity in Commercial Real Estate Conference, the largest conference in the nation that specifically focuses on diversity in the commercial real estate industry. In addition, Adeola is working to create and build more sustainable and safe communities though ESG focused real estate development and acquisitions. Over the course of ten years, Adeola 0rganically grew the company to engage over 25,000+ professionals annually hosting events, conferences and forums in the U.S. and internationally, including New York City, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Georgia, Austin Texas, Lagos, Nigeria, Johannesburg, South Africa and more. AGN also advocates for professionals of color and diversity and inclusion through business education, recruiting, career development, thought leadership and partnerships. Adeola was a co-host of Raising the Bar with the MBBA a TV show where legal experts discuss issues such as criminal justice, immigration, and affordable housing and provide legal commentary, and offer solutions on issues affecting everyday citizens. Adeola is the recipient of several awards, including the National Bar Association’s 40 under 40 Nation’s Best Advocates Award, the New York Women’s Chamber of Commerce Women of Excellence Award, TOP 35 Millennial Influencers Award, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke’s Shining
Star Award and the New York State Bar Association’s Empire State Counsel Award. She is a 2017 Council of Urban Professionals Fellow, a member of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association, Council of Urban Real Estate, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Adeola received her B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Comparative Women’s Studies from Spelman College. She obtained her law degree from Cornell Law School with a specialization in International Legal Affairs.
Gayle Jennings O’Byrne Co-Founder of WOCstar Fund
Gayle Jennings-O’Byrne is an African-American venture capitalist who co-founded the WOCstar Fund, an early stage investment fund that invests in tech companies led by
women of color entrepreneurs (“WOCstars”) and diverse, inclusive teams. Gayle (pronounced: Gay-lä) takes a unique builder capital approach to helping entrepreneurs scale and grow to success, while working with investors and allies to participate in the innovation, wealth and success being built. She hosts VCs off the Record, a podcast for both entrepreneurs and investors that provides real talk by real investors. With over 30+ years of wall street, technology, philanthropy, training and professional speaking experience, she is unique in her global experience and knowledge and one
among few African-American women to start a venture capital firm. Gayle is a highly sought-out content expert in matters of innovation, tech trends, finance, investing, and
entrepreneurship. She also works with groups to demystify how to invest wisely and with impact. She is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business, the University of Michigan and
attendee of the National University of Singapore and City of London Polytechnic. She has traveled, studied or worked in over 75+ countries. Recently appointed president of The Nantucket Project Academy. Board member of Women.NYC and BE NYC (Black Entrepreneurs), both based out of the New York City Department of Small Business Services and a Nazarian Social Innovator-in-Residence at Wharton Social Impact Initiative, and a Tribeca Disruptor Fellow.
