Outdoor Runway Event at Resource Depot, April 23 from 7 – 8 pm
Runway Starts at 7:30pm
Free and open to the public
Catwalk is a 3 month-long program in which students ranging from elementary to high school are given a “trashformation” challenge: construct wearable art made from a variety of traditional and non-traditional materials. We want any student that is interested to participate, no matter what experience they may or may not have in sewing and non-traditional garment design. Participating students are given access to Resource Depot’s treasure trove of reusable materials and participate in weekly workshops, where they learn the basics of using a sewing machine, construction techniques, and receive guidance on how to incorporate the materials they choose. Through the use of nontraditional materials, the students gain environmental consciousness while thinking outside of the “trash”. This year we are partnering with Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach and our theme is “In the Garden”. Be sure to not miss this fun evening honoring all the students hard work featuring their one-of-a-kind fashions!
Outfits From the Runway will be on display in Resource Depot’s GalleRE from April 24 – May 6, 2021.
